Cooperation of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University with the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER)
Larysa Zasiekina, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs, has represented our University at Conference and Working Group meetings organized by the ASPHER. ASPHER is the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region, which is the key independent European organization dedicated to strengthening the role of public health by improving education and training of public health professionals for both practice and research. The main office of ASPHER is located in Brussels. This year the meetings took place at the Gdańsk Medical University in Poland.
Larysa Zasiekina as a Working Group member in the mental health area aimed to develop a Roadmap for Ukraine and other European countries on minimizing the mental health consequences of war.
Larysa Zasiekina presented the psychologist’s view of a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine by the Russian Federation and outlined the mental health issues among civilians and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The researcher told about the psychological assistance to people of Volyn Oblast. She also shared her experience at the Resilience Centre Sderot (Israel), and suggested a network formation of the centers in Ukraine for IDPs` integration into communities of the Western part of Ukraine and the migration crisis reduction in Europe emerged from the war.
In addition, Larysa Zasiekina held some meetings for enhancing research collaboration between the Medical Faculty of the Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and Medical Universities in Poland.
